About This Property
Harborline Modern was built in 1965 on an exposed steel I-beam structure, most visible today at the entry canopy where a single beam cantilevers past its last support with no additional bracing. Ribbon windows wrap the harbor-facing corner of the main living level in a continuous horizontal band — a detail borrowed directly from the International Style’s commercial vocabulary, here scaled down for a house that always looked slightly more institutional than its neighbors, deliberately so.
The 2020 renovation restored the original terrazzo through the main living area and added a primary suite at the rear, massed and roofed to stay subordinate to the original flat-roofed volume rather than competing with it. The east-facing ribbon windows catch first light off the harbor every morning and lose direct sun by early afternoon, which keeps the living areas comfortable through the district’s warm summer afternoons without mechanical cooling doing all the work. A harbor-facing deck off the kitchen is the most-used outdoor space, oriented to the same view line as the ribbon windows above it.
